Trio Gives Jazz Treatment to Dylan

One of modern jazz's most adventurous groups, Jewels & Binoculars, is bringing its interpretations of Bob Dylan's music to several Island venues over the next couple of weeks beginning tonight at Duncan Garage Showroom.

Virtuoso reedman Michael Moore, bassist Lindsey Horner, and drummer Michael Vatcher have recently released Ships with Tattooed Sails, a CD collection of free jazz reinventions of a dozen Dylan songs.

The trio of sonic innovators from New York and Amsterdam reshapes songs from the breadth of the great songwriter's four-decade career including expressive, instrumental readings of Gates of Eden (featuring Bill Frisell's dramatic guitar on the CD), One More Cup of Coffee, Spirit on the Water, and It's All Over Now Baby Blue.
