THE MOVIE MUSIC OF SPIKE LEE AND TERENCE BLANCHARD SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1 AT NJPAC

Featuring The Terence Blanchard Quintet and The Terence Blanchard Orchestra with vocalists Patti Austin, Bilal and Raul Midn

Newark, NJ One of Hollywoods most important and influential filmmakers, Spike Lee, will introduce an evening dedicated to Terence Blanchards acclaimed jazz scores and R&B-tinged songs from Jungle Fever, Bamboozled, Malcolm X, Clockers, Inside Man, 25th Hour, Mo Better Blues, When the Levees Broke, and Miracle at St. Anna at NJPAC on Saturday, November 1 at 8 pm in Prudential Hall. Tickets are $23, $42, $52, $64, $72, and $92 and may be purchased by telephone at 1-888-GO-NJPAC (1-888-466-5722), at the NJPAC Box Office at One Center Street in downtown Newark, or by visiting the NJPAC website at www.njpac.org.

In addition to The Terence Blanchard Quintet (Aaron Parks - piano, Brice Winston - saxophone, Michael Olatuja - bass, Marcus Gilmoret drums, Fabian Almazan - piano) and The Terence Blanchard Orchestra, this multi-media event will feature three top-notch guest vocalists, Grammy-winning, R&B diva Patti Austin, rising singer-songwriter Raul Midon, and neo-soul sensation Bilal, to help recreate the vocal selections from the films. It will also feature stills from each film segment projected on a screen above the orchestra.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), located in the heart of an emerging downtown Newark, New Jersey, is the sixth largest performing arts center in the United States. Home of the Grammy Award-winning New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, NJPAC has been widely cited as a catalyst in the revitalization of New Jersey's largest city, attracting over 5.5 million visitors (including more than one million children) in its first eleven years of operation.

Programming has been made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and by funds from the National Endowment for the Arts.
