The Jazz.FM91 Songwriters Series

Toronto, Ontario —JAZZ.FM91 is pleased to announce The JAZZ.FM91 Songwriters Series, which will feature the extraordinary talents of jazz musicians, and songwriters in three compelling concerts at Hugh's Room. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door, series passes are available for $115 for all three concerts and can be reserved through Hugh's Room by calling 416-531-6604 or online at hughsroom.com.

The JAZZ.FM91 Songwriters Series kicks off on Monday, October 11th with legendary jazz guitarist Gene Bertoncini and famed lyricist Alan Bergman. The show will feature Bertoncini on solo guitar, accompanied by Bergman, singing many of his and Marilyn Bergman's award winning songs. The Bergman's classics include “Nice 'n' Easy," “The Way We Were." “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life," “The Summer Knows," “It Might Be You," and “You Don't Bring Me Flowers."

This is the first time Bergman and Bertoncini have brought their show to Canada. Their first and only stop is The JAZZ.FM91 Songwriters Series.

On Wednesday, January 19th, Bob Dorough takes the Hugh's Room stage. Dorough is an acclaimed pianist, singer and songwriter and is best known as the composer of songs used in the 1970's television classic, Schoolhouse Rock. His songs have been recorded by Mel Torme, Diana Krall, Miles Davis, Jack Johnson and Jamie Cullum, and include such classics as “Devil May Care," “Conjunction Junction," “But for Now" and “Comin' Home Baby."

The final concert of the series takes place on Monday, April 4th, and features a solo performance by four-time Grammy nominee, David Frishberg. Frishberg is an outstanding pianist and highly regarded songwriter. His credits include “My Attorney Bernie," “I'm Hip," “Peel Me a Grape," and “You Are There." Some of the artists who have made Frishberg's songs classics include Rosemary Clooney, Michael Feinstein, Diana Krall, Blossom Dearie and Tony Bennett.
