About Tahna Running

Tahna's primary musical foundation and influence stems, naturally, from her parents, being they're both professional musicians. Early in her teens, Tahna saw Thelonius Monk, Mingus, Bill Evans, Gil Evans, Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughn, Dexter Gordon and even Miles Davis - “LIVE". A couple of years later, just before his untimely devise, she was invited to perform with Eddie Jefferson on a few of his gigs. Eddie Jefferson is still her number one most favorite “Jazz" Star and personality. She feels his brilliance was doubly highlighted by a gracious humility not unlike that of Louis Armstrong, together with an unmatchable joy of spirit, which had you “hooked" into his dancing charismatic originality. It was never a conscious decision, for Tahna to become a “Jazz Singer" per se, but having been around Eddie Jefferson and having “SEEN" originality improvised on such a high level, by this Legend of socalled “JAZZ"... WHAT ELSE would a singer want to strive towards, after “WITNESSING" that kind of “Music Educator".

Special Compilation CDs available for sale, at the Jazz Standard, night of show.
