Genius pianist, vocalist and jazz master, Doctor Gabs and his Band will perform at the Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, on Thursday 22 December at 7.30 pm to end his tour 2005. A “Jazz Evening" dedicated to great classics of Boogie Woogie, Swing, Blues, and Jazz. On the program: works by Louis Armstrong, Erroll Garner, Ray Charles, Gershwin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Glenn Miller, Thelonious Monk, Cole Porter, Fats Waller, as well as his own compositions from Doctor Gabs new CD “Tropical Boogie". A repertoire full of lyricism, virtuosity, warmth, and sensibility.

DOCTOR GABS, Piano & Vocal Master of swing, blues, and boogiewoogie,Doctor Gabs transforms the piano into a river of poetry and beauty. His playing reveals the best in jazz, from its origins to today. Many specialists and jazz aficionados consider him as one of the spiritual sons of the legendary Erroll Garner. In fact one of Gabs' recordings in Paris is dedicated to him. One thing is for sure, each concert offers, unique, and unforgettable moments, of which only he knows the secret. His music is direct and filled with warmth, joy, tenderness, lyricism and virtuosity. The man with the magical fingers makes music that heals the soul, touches hearts, and brings people together. GENE JACKSON, Drums Jackson has a style that can change in accordance to what genre of music he plays. His ability to range from African to Latin to cool rhythms has afforded Jackson the opportunity to be recommended by dozens of eminent musicians. Though he has maintained a successful career. By playing with many musicians, he has acquired the ability to play the skins in multiple styles and genres of music. “I found it is musically satisfying for me when I follow where the music takes me as opposed to dictating where the music goes," said Jackson. His capability to do this is reflected in Jackson's recording and travel career with such artists as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Art Farmer, Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Since 1999 Gene has been involved in various projects around the world. Jackson teaches privately at The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York City.

ESSIET OKON ESSIET, Bass Essiet Okon Essiet began his musical studies at age 10 with the violin. Four years later he switched to the bass viol. In 1982 he met Don Moye and joined his quartet. That same year he met and joined Adullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) on and off for six years. In 1988 he joined Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers till Art's passing in 1990. Since then Essiet has performed and recorded with many other reknown artists. Essiet also leads his group called IBO, a Nigerian Jazz Project.

GINO SITSON, Vocal New York-based Cameroonian, Gino Sitson is the vocalist who is incorporating African polyphonic techniques into the jazz vocalese tradition. He comes from a long line of musicians, known as “Ntontas," ("players of horns"). He stunningly creates an endless range of sounds. Sitson's daring musical project combines jazz, gospel, blues and traditional African rhythms and melodies in a most innovative way. Freely exploring the use of his voice and body, combining his vocal acrobatics with amazing body percussions and miscellaneous effects, Mr. Sitson has forged his own musical style, a unique vocal technique.
