The annual Halloween jazz concert at Illinois State University will feature student Jazz Ensembles I, II and III at 8 pm Friday, October 31, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
Tickets are $6 for the general public, $5 for fauclty-staff and $4 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased at the CPA box office or by phone at (309) 438-2535.
Associate Professor Tom Marko directs all three jazz groups. The concert will begin with Jazz Ensemble III performing “Corner Pocket” by Freddie Green and Don Wolf, arranged by Mark Taylor; “Embraceable You” by George and Ira Gershwin, arranged by Roy Phillipe; “St. Thomas” by Sonny Rollins, arranged by Roland Barrett; and “It Don’t mean a Thing” (if it Ain’t Got That Swing) by Duke Ellington and Irving Mills, arranged by Mark Taylor.
