Promises Made Album Release Party Featuring Grammy-Nominated Jazz Great Kirk Whalum & Friends

Millennium Promise, Simmons Family Foundation and Koch Records Host All-Star Benefit Event

On Monday, September 29, 2008, philanthropic organizations Millennium Promise and Simmons Family Foundation, along with entertainment powerhouse Koch Records, will join forces to host a CD release party for Promises Made, an all-star jazz album benefiting Millennium Promise. The event will be held at the famous BB King's Blues Club & Grill in the heart of New York City.

The evening will commence with a VIP reception at 6:00pm in BB King's Lucille Room. Our special invited guests will enjoy an hour-long open bar sponsored by Bombay Sapphire and hors d'oeuvres courtesy of BB King's restaurant. Immediately following, there will be a concert at 8:00pm. It will be a phenomenal evening as Kirk Whalum will perform several selections from the CD. At the close of the night, the legendary Dionne Warwick will lead a tribute to the late musician and humanitarian, Isaac Hayes.

Millennium Promise, whose board members include Angelina Jolie and Quincy Jones, has raised millions of dollars to assist the impoverished in Africa. In an effort to help raise money for this cause, Koch Records, along with Whalum, Takana, Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Take 6, veteran music producer George Duke and guitarist Earl Klugh lent their time and talent to produce the full-length jazz CD titled Promises Made.

Earl Cole, Whalum's manager, says, “It's an honor for Kirk, along with the other stellar artists involved, to be associated with such a meaningful and prestigious cause. This album is bringing people together for a wonderful cause while showcasing the art of quality jazz." Proceeds from this album will go towards Millennium Promise's mission to end poverty, increase education, and provide healthcare in Africa. Millennium Promise
The mission of Millennium Promise is to achieve the Millennium Development Goals - eight globally endorsed objectives addressing the multiple causes of extreme poverty - in Africa by 2015. To that end, Millennium Promise uses a holistic approach to work with impoverished communities, national and local governments and partner organizations to implement high-impact programs aimed at stopping the cycle of poverty. By engaging donor nations, corporations and the general public in this effort, our work is premised on the belief that, for the first time in history, our generation has the opportunity to end extreme poverty, hunger and disease disparities.
