Considered by critics and fans to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time, JOHN McLAUGHLIN has put together a stellar outfit, THE 4TH DIMENSION, to interpret his recent musical direction. On a very limited American tour, McLAUGHLIN hits Glenside's KESWICK THEATRE on Sun., Sept. 30 @ 7:30 PM.

McLAUGHLIN, who has famously performed with Miles Davis plus his own historic bands (The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti and The Guitar Trio), tours with an electric fusion band for the first time in nine years. The band will play compositions from McLaughlin's current, critically acclaimed Industrial Zen release in addition to other new pieces.

The 4th Dimension is comprised of Gary Husband (keyboard/percussion), Mark Mondesir (drums), and Hadrien Feraud (bass - tapped by McLaughlin as “.the next Jaco Pastorius.").

In a career spanning over 40 years, McLAUGHLIN has been part of or led some of the most important movements in jazz and music. His compositions are now being treated with the reverence of classical music pieces, interpreted the world over by musicians of many varied genres.

In the '60s he cut his teeth playing with Graham Bond and was a main cog in the revolutionary Tony Williams Lifetime. He met Miles Davis, recorded historic music with him, and earned stardom. In the '70s, he founded fusion's first super group, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, and created music that still has a unique influence today. He then took a lower profile with Shakti, an Indo-Jazz ensemble that helped lead the way in the World Music movement.

With guitarists Al DiMeola (performing at the Keswick with Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty - The Rite of Strings - on Sept. 20) and Paco DeLucia, McLAUGHLIN produced a series of recordings in the '80s, leading thousands of fans and players to rediscover the beautiful sounds of the acoustic guitar. At the same time, he was also at the forefront of technology, using the first guitar synthesizers. As the century ended, he was touring the world with legendary Shakti percussionist Zakir Hussain (performing at the Keswick with Mickey Hart and others - the Global Drum Project - on Oct. 22) in a reformed Shakti- updating the music he introduced 25 years earlier.

In 2005, he created a revolutionary guitar instructional DVD This is the Way I Do It that met with universal praise. Today, he continues on his musical journey by again delving into yet another musical form that combines all of his past experience with as-of- yet unlearned knowledge.

Tickets are $36.50, and can be ordered online @ www.keswicktheatre.com, via 24-Hr. Phone-Charge (215-572-7650), and in person at the Keswick Theatre box office Mondays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM. The Keswick Theatre is located at 291 Keswick Ave., Glenside, PA.
