Trio Tarana: the new work
With Jason Kao Hwang (violin), Ravish Momin (drums, percussion, tabla), Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz (oud, bass).
When the Rubin Museum of Art premiered Trio Tarana's new album earlier this year Clifford Allen in All About Jazz wrote, It is fair to say that Tarana is without precedent in the world of improvised music. A true synthesis of North African, South and East Asian motifs with classical organization and the immediacy of free improvisation has probably not existed prior to Climbing the Banyan Tree. One can hope that Momin and his cohorts' ascent is ensured with this recording." This acoustic concert marks the performance premieres of their new work. Co-presented with RAVE*SQ Magazine.
$15 (includes admission to the Museum's six galleries)
RUBIN MUSEUM OF ART 150 W 17th Street NY NY 10011
