The Indie Jazz Café is a weekly podcast designed to highlight the music of independent Jazz musicians from around the world.
The podcast is available at indiejazzcafe.podbean.com; its main Web site is at indiejazzcafe.com.
The podcast is unique in that it encourages subscribers to help play a role in the careers of the musicians it features, and it pays the artists for their music.
After they have listened to the weekly podcast, subscribers are asked to return to the podcast's main Web site indiejazzcafe.comand vote for their favorite artist of that week.
At the end of each month, the artists receiving the most votes each week will be included on an Email blast to Jazz radio and recording industry executives.
The Email will go out with artists who are 'listener approved,' said Bill Bowman, the podcast's creator. What better recommendation can you have than that?"
The artists will also a receive a portion from each sale of the podcast, which is priced at 99 cents for one weekly episode, $3.50 for one month's worth and $45 for a year's subscription.
Subscribers will receive at least four songs in each podcast," Bowman said. It's all music, no talking. That's what people said they wanted most."
Also, at the end of each year, a portion of the podcast's proceeds will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that provides a place to stay for active military, retirees, veterans and their families when they must visit military hospitals.
I had the occasion to enjoy the Fisher House caring and hospitality during a very trying time," Bowman said. It is a fine organization, and I hope I can give it much support."
