Girls Need Guitars is a benefit concert Sunday April 3 at the Mount Baker Studio Theater Bellingham, WA to provide guitars and rhythm instruments for a Bellingham, WA program called Sea Mar Visions. bellinghambenefits.com/girlsneedguitars Sea Mar Visions in the only level 2 residential substance abuse treatment program for teenage girls in Washington State. Approximately 80 girls a year have participated in the Sea Mar Visions program since 1999. These girls range in age from 13 to 17 and most come from dire circumstances. While at Visions they receive individual counseling and they go to school onsite, completing high school or passing their GED. For many of these girls the time they spend at Sea Mar Visions is the longest period of sanity and sobriety in their lives. Almost every teenage girl dreams of playing the guitar, we would like to help them achieve this dream and provide instruments for their music program. We have coordinated a show of very diverse musical styles and amazing Pacific Northwest performers. This show is featuring The Laura Love Duo, Alice Stuart, Linda Waterfall, Linda Allen, Vadinska, and Tricia Sikes. We would appreciate any considerations about the music can provide. We especially need help getting the word out so people will attend the show and donate guitars and rhythm instruments. If you would like to know more about the sponsorship packages available, event details, or how to donate guitars and rhythm instruments please email [email protected] or call any of the numbers listed.
