Facebook fans say Tina Turner For Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award

Facebook is at it again! This time in support of rock n' rolls most glamorous rocker, Tina Turner. Three fans in New York, Germany and the United Kingdom joined forces to start a campaign on the social networking site facebook to get the iconic rocker the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Since Shaun Rasmussen, Anja Offerman and Richard Hudson founded the page, more than 10,000 people have signed up in support of Ms. Turner. To handle the level of fans logging on each week to post notes, photographs and videos created in support of Tina Turner receiving the award, facebook is now managing the page.

TINA TURNER is one of the world's most popular entertainers. She is the most successful female rock artist in music history and was named “one of the greatest singers of all time" by Rolling Stone Magazine. In a career that spans more than 50-years, Ms. Turner's records have sold nearly 200 million copies worldwide. The Rock n' Roll hall of famer was the first woman to grace the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine and the first black woman to grace the cover of Vanity Fair Magazine. Additionally, Tina Turner has broken concert attendance records worldwide and HAS SOLD MORE CONCERT TICKETS than any other solo music performer in history. To reflect on such an extraordinary life, Walt Disney Pictures produced the 1993 biopic of Ms. Turner's life. The title taken from The Worldwide smash hit single “What's Love Got To Do with It?" The film would take over $35,000,000 in its first five weeks of opening in the US, and gross over $60,000,000 worldwide.

Ms. Turner is famous for her energetic stage performances, trademark choreography, powerful vocals, career longevity, widespread appeal and ageless beauty. In 2000, Tina Turner retired from large scale touring. That tour titled the Twenty Four Seven Millennium Tour grossed more than $100 million. In 2005, she released the greatest hits packaged All The Best that debuted at #2 on the US Pop charts with just 4 days of promotion. Later that year, rock's Queen was honored by Oprah Winfrey at her Legends Ball and subsequently received a Kennedy Center Honor.

In 2008, after a hugely successful Grammy Awards performance with Beyonce Knowles, the then 68-year-old Turner left semi-retirement to embark on her Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour. With limited promotion, the 17- city tour ballooned to 95 sell out dates and grossed $130 million. The tour featured 5 nights at London's O2 Arena, which became the venues highest grossing shows of 2009. Earlier this year, Tina fans Shaun Rasmussen, Anja Offerman and Richard Hudson were instrumental in a successful fan campaign started to bring Tina's 1989 hit song “The Best" back to the UK Charts. Within weeks of launching the campaign, the song was in the UK top 10, making Tina Turner the female artist with the longest span of Top ten hits on the UK singles chart. Tina Turner is an American National Treasure, a Global Icon and the undisputed Queen of Rock N' Roll. After more than 50-years in music, Tina Turner is still Simply the Best and deserving of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
