Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, internationally praised and hailing from Chicago, gives a special free performance on Sunday, February 22 at 4:00 at the York College/CUNY Performing Arts Center. All seven band members are sons of the esteemed trumpeter Kelan Phil Cohran, former member of Sun Ra Arkestra, and have worked with major artists including Mos Def, Erykah Badu, and Damon Albarn.

Hardly a typical brass band, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble shows audiences how jazz meets hip-hop while celebrating their roots in Chicago's progressive jazz tradition of the 1960s and 70s. This young, energetic ensemble looks forward, delivering tight, mesmerizing arrangements as enticing as their name suggests.

This event is proudly co-presented by Lincoln Center and the York College/CUNY Performing Arts Center, marking the fifth year of memorable artistic collaborations for Black History Month.

Lincoln Center's celebration of Black History Month continues with events from New York City Opera, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Don't miss the Ritz Chamber Players give a free performance at The Juilliard School on Friday, February 13, the nation's first chamber music ensemble created exclusively with musicians spanning the African Diaspora.
