Dubai, April 20, 2006 What's On Awards announced that the 2006 Philips Dubai International Jazz Festival held in Dubai, March of this year, won the Best Festival of the Year award.
This category has been introduced for the first time this year, with the ballot including nominations of other festivals like the Desert Rock Festival and the Dubai International Film Festival.
“We are honoured to be recognized by What's On," said Anthony Younes, Managing Partner of Chillout Productions, founders and organizers of the Dubai International Jazz Festival (DIJF). “Our 2006 edition of the DIJF drew thousands of fans to the Dubai Media City venue and we thank them as well as our partners and sponsors for believing in the power of music."
The 4th annual DIJF, held on March 8, 9 and 10, 2006, was the biggest edition yet, with thousands of fans celebrating their passion for music and enjoying a bouquet of artists from around the world headed by legends and stars like Sarah Morrow, Hal Singer, Rhoda Scott, Sylvia Droste, Cecile Verny, Yves Carini, Chico Freeman, Hilton Ruiz, Jean-Luc Ponty, Diane Schuur, Roger Hodgson, and Kool & The Gang.
“This year was a turnover for us as organizers, where we had more than 21,000 spectators attending the 3-day festival," continued Anthony Younes, “the success of the Dubai International Jazz Festival depends on the support of many parties like Philips, Cadillac, Emirates Holidays, Skywards, Yamaha, Cacharel, Hilton, among many others. This is in addition to the support of the media, promoting the festival and enticing fans to attend, mainly What's On, Hello, Orbit Network, and Radio 2, and partners; Nomada as Production Partners and Renato Lombardo as Artistic Director.
Chillout Productions is also organizing the third edition of the Nokia Abu Dhabi International Jazz Festival taking place on April 27 and 28, 2006 at the Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers Abu Dhabi.
