Complaints of all shapes and sizes, submitted by Chicagoans, are crafted into a musical composition and sung by a local, volunteer choir in a joyous and humorous tribute. Conceived by artists Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and culled from the Finnish phrase valituskuoro--literally complaints choir"--the project has already been realized in dozens of cities around the world, but Chicago is the first official Complaints Choir in the U.S. The Chicago Complaints Choir, conducted by Jeremy Jacobsen, premieres at the MCA with additional performances at other area locations following later in the week, including a performance from a double-decker tour bus, driving through downtown Chicago, on November 4.
Presented by MCA with Smog Veil Records and the Chicago Humanities Festival. Reservations required through the Chicago Humanities Festival, 312.494.9509.
