Art Sanctuary, along with Arts Nova and The Warriors collaborate to reveal this exciting concert, celebrating the life of one of the world's greatest jazz artists, John Coltrane. In addition, September 15-22 will culminate a week-long event series centering on the concert:
- A Musicians Workshop - September 15 @ 2pm (Hawthorne Cultural Center, 11th & Carpenter Streets) is devoted to modern concepts in composition and improvisation;
- Open Rehearsal - September 17 @ 8pm (location to be announced) - the music to be performed;
- Roundtable Discussion on the Life and Works of Coltrane - September 22 @ 2pm (Church of the Advocate, 18th & Diamond Streets), a panel discussing the achievements, and the influence of John Coltrane's music.
Commemorate the life and music of legendary jazz genius John Coltrane by attending these special anniversary events. Marvel at the Church of the Advocate, the last venue in which Coltrane performed in Philadelphia.
