Bassist Buster Williams performs at Smoke Jazz Club on October 20 and October 21 with his “Something More" Quartet, featuring Danny Grissett, Steve Wilson, and Carl Allen. Sets begin at 8:00 pm, 10:00 pm, and 11:30 pm.

Praised by Jazztimes for “the beauty of his tone and sound, along with the consistent quality of his writing and recordings," the bassist, bandleader, and composer Buster Williams has performed, recorded, and collaborated with jazz giants such as Art Blakey, Betty Carter, Chick Corea, Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, and Count Basie. Mr. Williams earned a Grammy in 1979, the Min-On Art Award, and the SGI Glory Award. He is also the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant, as well as a New York Foundations for the Arts Fellowship Grant.

In 2004, Buster Williams celebrated the release of Griot Liberte, featuring Stefon Harris, George Colligan, and Lenny White. Kevin Convey, of the Boston Herald, writes “Just when you thought nobody made the kind of jazz album that depends more on class, beauty, chops and communication than on concepts and star value, along comes bassist Buster Williams' Griot Liberte. It's enough to restore your faith in the art form." This year, Mr. Williams released The Zodiac Suite as part of the Mary Lou Williams Collective.

For the date, Buster is joined by pianist Danny Grissett, saxophonist Steve Wilson, and drummer Lenny White.
