The 10th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival begins Wednesday, April 1 thru 30, 2009. This jubilee celebration will feature: star filled double bill Gala Opening Jazz Concert on Saturday (April 4th), Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Jazz: The Women's View Point (April 18th), Jazz & The Fine Arts concert, BAMcafe Live weekend (April 24/25), Youth Jazz Jamboree/Wellness Day (April 25th), Latin Jazz concerts, educational symposiums, programming for senior citizens; individuals with development disabilities, and jazz concerts in churches, restaurants, clubs and cultural institutions throughout Brooklyn. Some of the venues participating in Festival 2009 include: Afroart Designs, Weeksville Heritage Center, Brooklyn Historical Society, BAMcafe Live, Institute for Studies in America Music at Brooklyn College, Dweck Center for Contemporary Culture-Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch, Sugar Hill Restaurant & Supper Club, and Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium's celebration of America's only original art form, Jazz, during Jazz Appreciation Month (US public law 108-72) will also pay homage to music icons whom have called Brooklyn home. Max Roach, Hubie Blake, Lena Horne, and Dr. Randy Weston just to name some, have all refined their sound in this culturally rich borough of New York City.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium welcomes Brooklyn Tourism and Visitors Center, an initiative of Borough President Marty Markowitz, as a sponsor of the 10th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium, founded in 1999, is an amalgam of jazz musicians, entertainment venues, patrons of the music, community and faith based organizations. Over the past nine years, they have presented an annual spring festival, established a Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame, and produced yearly programs of events and activities that feature local jazz musical talents. CBJC is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving, promoting and supporting jazz music, musicians and programs.
