AccuJazz Internet radio continues its weekly roll-out of new creatively programmed jazz channels today with the launch of “Trombone Jazz," a streaming jazz channel highlighting one of the most under-appreciated instruments in jazz, the trombone. The channel is completely free to use and available 24 hours a day.

Some of the greatest musicians in the history of jazz have played trombone. From Tommy Dorsey to J.J. Johnson to Steve Turre, the instrument has attracted talented, creative individuals who work in a wide variety of jazz idioms. While it is one of the most difficult instruments to learn, many say that of all the brass instruments, the trombone's tone is most reminiscent of the human voice.

Unfortunately, the trombone often forfeits the spotlight to more popular instruments like the saxophone, piano and trumpet. For listeners who appreciate the trombone's lyrical sound and the many purveyors of that sound, “Trombone Jazz" by AccuJazz puts the instrument in the spotlight. The channel's play list reads like a who's who of jazz trombonists, featuring Dickie Wells, Tommy Dorsey, Curtis Fuller, Jimmy Knepper, Slide Hampton, Willie Colon, Conrad Herwig, Robin Eubanks and dozens more.

“Trombone Jazz" is part of a weekly roll-out of new AccuJazz channels and brings the total AccuJazz channel tally to 36. It is the ninth channel in the “Jazz by Instrument" category, joining channels built around the piano, vocals, saxophone, and more. Other popular AccuJazz channels include “Straight Ahead," “Jazz Fusion," and “Decade: '50s." As with all AccuJazz channels, listeners can customize their experience by pausing, skipping songs, and “deselecting" artists they would rather not hear. Listen now at AccuJazz.com.
