Despite increased globalization, New York is still undoubtedly the Mecca of the jazz world. Hundreds of young musicians move to New York every year seeking success, or at least some genuine musical experiences, and many veterans still reside in the Big Apple, filling the city's many jazz rooms with wonderful music every night.
Regions: New York Now is the second in the “Jazz by Region" category of AccuJazz.com, joining Regions: New Orleans. A channel that played all the music made by New Yorkers throughout jazz history would likely encompass most of the AccuJazz library, so this region channel focuses only on the more recent music from the Big Apple. Listeners will hear music by movers and shakers like Brad Mehldau, Ben Allison and Roy Hargrove as well as many of the young up-and-coming musicians on the scene.
