Kuni Mikami

I was born in Tokyo,Japan and came to New York in 1975. I am the last pianist for the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, from 1991 till 2002, I toured all over U.S. and Europe with Hamp. Also I have toured with Duke Ellington Orchestra, Illinois Jacquet Orchestra, Cab Calloway Orchestra and George Gee Swing Orchestra. I am performing at major jazz clubs such as Birdland, Bluenote with my own group (Bryce Sebastien/bass, Richard Allen/drums,Stephanie Clark/vocal).In 2003 I started performing with a mime artist, Haruka as "iMIMEnation" and toured in South Asia, South America and Japan.

At AC Pianocraft, Monday June 5th, 8PM, Lenore Raphael, called “simply one of the best pianists in jazz today" (writer John Gilbert), performs standards and originals dedicated to the musicians and victims of hurricane Katrina.
