Melaine Douglas

M. Elaine Douglas Alto/Soprano Saxophone/Midi Wind Controller/Composer, Arranger Born in Baltimore, Maryland. Elaine started playing the saxophone and clarinet at age 8. She performed at local jazz clubs and cabarets while in high school. After graduation in 1972, Elaine attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music’s first Saxophone Course offered in the school’s history, studying with Vito Cuscuno, who introduced her to the music by John Coltrane and Charlie Parker, and played in Peabody’s first jazz ensemble under the direction of Professor Cal Lampley. While living in Florida, she enjoyed playing at various jazz festivals, clubs, and on the beaches and lakefronts.

Elaine played with Graingers, Dennis Chambers, Julius Brockington, Doc Severinson, Phil Woods, Rodney Curtis, Lloyd Dorsey, BADD, and other musicians of the 60's 70's 80's 90's Baltimore Sound.
