Album Description

he Light Upon Blight Ensemble is led by Jeff Cedrone and features core members of the New Haven Improvisers Collective. Jeff is a New Haven based artist who has made important contributions to New Haven’s music scene as a composer, bandleader, and instrumentalist. The Light Upon Blight Ensemble is the jazzier & groovier off-shoot of Jeff’s long running vehicle Light Upon Blight. It is heavily influenced by Ornette Coleman’s groove oriented Prime Time ensembles and his system of Harmolodics. The Light Upon Blight Ensemble has an originality that fuses this with many disparate influences to create its own music. The new CD, Streamline Moderne, was recorded at Firehouse 12 and features three compositions by Mr. Cedrone and three group improvisations highlighting a unique group interplay and spirit of fun.
