Each month we'll pair two recent jazz CDs with the latest releases from the AAJ Wine Club . This month we're pairing WillaKenzie Estate's Oregon Pinot Noir with Ted Sirota's Breeding Resistance and Martin & Weyrich Winery's Central Coast Pinot Grigio with Jim Robitaille's To Music.

WillaKenzie Estate
Oregon Pinot Noir

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Appellation: Oregon

TA: 4.0
Alcohol: 13.8%

Tasting Notes: The winter of 2000-2001 and the spring of 2001 were the driest on record in Oregon. As a result, fruit set generously. Despite some days of abnormally high heat during the summer resulting in purposefully dropping clusters, the end of the season marked a longer "hang time" on the vines, building up flavors, acidity, and ripeness of tannins. Harvest was executed under perfect conditions. This Pinot Noir is very approachable now, but will also improve with some aging. The nose displays clean floral aromas of rose petals and violets coupled with warm red berry jam. The mouth-feel is fresh and vibrant with a bright, balanced acidity. Tannins are elegantly incorporated with distinct cherry and raspberry flavors. The finish is soft but with a lingering hint of berries. Open at least 2 hours before drinking for an optimal experience.

Martin & Weyrich Winery
Central Coast Pinot Grigio

Varietal: Pinot Grigio
Appellation: Paso Robles
pH: 3.5
TA: .60 g/100 ml
Alcohol: 14.2%
Harvest Date: August and September 2000

Winemaker's Notes: This Pinot Grigio is a combination of three low yielding vineyards. Grapes are hand harvested, chilled, and then gently whole-cluster pressed to retain the bright fruit character and fresh, floral aromas. The wine is bottled while its youthful characteristics are at their peak. Well balanced, with intriguing scents of citrus zest, figs, pears, this Pinot Grigio is compatible with many dishes.
