Trespass Trio: "...was there to illuminate the night sky..."

Il sassofonista svedese Martin Küchen non è artista che si presti a facili compromessi: sia che soffi come un dannato in qualche quartetto free, sia che esplori le più silenti extended techniques, la sua musica è mossa da una sorta di irrefrenabile necessità del dire, del muovere l'aria, del destare l'ascoltatore da uno stato di passiva accettazione del prevedibile.

Accade anche in questo "...was there to illuminate the night sky...", creatura collettiva a nome Trespass Trio [con Küchen al contralto e al baritono ci sono Per Zanussi al contrabbasso e Raymond Strid alla batteria] e esplicita dichiarazione di opposizione a ogni guerra e ingiustizia sociale attraverso il potere della musica. Pur muovendosi secondo una grammatica di interazione già ampiamente storicizzata, sia nei suoi momenti più frenetici che in quelli - alcuni bellissimi - più meditativi, il trio ha la bravura di mostrarci le ombre dei passaggi più luminosi e i bagliori di quelli più oscuri.

Astrazione e visceralità, momento collettivo e abbandono solista, diventano così proiezioni reciproche, innervate da una ispirazione non comune, da una lacerazione blues che sembra l'unico possibile suono dell'indignazione straziata davanti alle bombe al fosforo di Falluja [loro il potere illuminante del titolo], da una compattezza che tiene inchiodati all'ascolto. Indomabili!
