Un'aurea classicità sostanzia l'elevato livello artistico di un trombettista superbo, abile nell'assorbire e riplasmare la tradizione del proprio strumento. L'ultimo CD di Bryan Lynch costituisce un affascinante excursus nel repertorio dei musicians' musicians degli anni '50 e '60, tra i quali Tommy Turrentine, Idrees Sulieman, e Joe Gordon di cui Lynch propone partiture inedite. Le dieci tracce proposte fanno rilucere una tecnica brillante, che parte da una piena conoscenza del passato per delineare un percorso di forte impatto emotivo.

L'intento è quello di portare all'attenzione generale alcune perle misconosciute della letteratura trombettistica del jazz, nella convinzione che la forza di questa musica non risieda solo nei più celebrati protagonisti. Soprattutto le ballad esaltano la voce poetica ed emozionante del leader quando è impegnato al flicorno.

Come valore aggiunto, una vibrante espressività che sembra riassumere l'essenza del jazz: comunicativa, swing, capacità di trasmettere profonde emozioni, racchiuse nell'attimo irripetibile di ammalianti giochi improvvisativi. Ed è proprio questa l'eredità tramandata dai grandi trombettisti omaggiati da Lynch, che ci consegna un CD coinvolgente e palpitante come pochi altri ascoltati negli ultimi anni. Ne discende un ascolto altamente consigliabile, anche grazie ad un gruppo di rara perizia e compattezza.
