Kui Dong - Larry Polansky - Christian Wolff: Trio

Un'improvvisazione totale che definiremmo "orizzontale," di temperatura generalmente assorta, cameristica, a tratti persino estenuata, è quanto ci offre questo CD del trio cino-americano (ma Wolff è di famiglia tedesca ed è nato in Francia, a Nizza). Tutto ciò fin quasi all'eccesso, col risultato di impantanarsi in periodiche risacche di stanchezza in chi ascolta, che pure non potrà non apprezzare il rigore e l'assoluta coerenza intestina che informa il lavoro.

Non manca, per altri versi, una certa qual frammentazione del processo complessivo, con segmenti più nervosi, qualche episodica impennata, con i tre strumenti (qua e là preparati) impegnati in un dialogo che si direbbe più intento a togliere che ad aggiungere, a partire dal volume sonoro, non di rado prossimo al grado zero.

Il meglio sembra arrivare, a conti fatti, dall'episodio conclusivo; il che, peraltro, potrebbe anche essere determinato dal fatto di sapere che si è ormai prossimi al capolinea.
