Christine Jensen, Maggi Olin: Transatlantic Conversations: 11 Piece Band Live
Le coordinate di fondo sono quelle della moderna big band di fattura mainstream ma le orchestrazioni si muovono su uno spettro stilistico ampio, passando da elementi pre boppistici (in particolare l'ellingtoniano "Orange") a interventi solistici ricchi di enfasi rock (il chitarrista Torben Waldorff). Gli arrangiamenti privilegiano un gusto aristocratico per morbidi impasti timbrici, temi dalle tinte radiose ed assoli seducenti ma non mancano momenti dinamicamente avvincenti (dove l'amore per lo swing e la tradizione è palpabile) come "Red and Green" e "Wink." Tutto ben amalgamato ed equilibrato dunque, sia dal punto di vista del collettivo che degli interventi individuali.
Tra questi la cantante Sofie Norling riveste uno spazio particolare: la voce evidenzia un timbro seducente e ricche capacità espressive, anche nel canto scat. Accanto agli ottimi interventi di Maggi Olin al pianoforte e Christine Jensen ai sassofoni si mettono in luce il trombettista Fredrik Noren e il chitarrista Torben Waldorff.
