Nils Landgren: The Moon, The Stars and You

Dopo appena un anno dalla pubblicazione del disco di Nils Landgren The Moon, The Stars and You ne viene pubblicata una ristampa, completa di un DVD in cui il trombonista e vocalista svedese ed il suo quartetto sono ripresi live al Jazz Club Fasching di Stoccolma. Un tale successo di pubblico è più che meritato. Sulla linea più di un Chet Baker (ma senza quella fragilità emotiva costantemente in evidenza) che di vocalisti esuberanti come Kevin Mahogany o Al Jarreau, interpreta standards e canzoni di autori non jazz come Cat Stevens e Kristoffer Kristofferson.

Gli ospiti famosi fanno il resto di questa produzione, molto curata sotto ogni punto di vista. Dal suono perfetto agli assoli con tutte le note al punto giusto. Bravissimo il giovane pianista tedesco Michael Wollny, ma anche il connazionale Lars Danielsson ed il batterista Rasmus Kihlberg fanno sì che tutto vada alla perfezione, specie nella ripresa live dove, ovviamente, la performance è più diretta, verrebbe da dire sincera, rispetto alla registrazione di studio, durante la quale ogni brano è stato inciso da una formazione diversa e con qualche ospite speciale.

Landgren, musicista poliedrico, al di fuori della sua Funk Unit fa un jazz molto orecchiabile, divide i suoi interventi fra trombone e voce e conquista il pubblico. Il suo è un jazz elegante, in smoking, che infatti indossa nella sua esibizione live.

Sia il CD che il DVD, hanno i loro pregi. L'ascolto di entrambi consente di entrare nel mondo espressivo di uno dei grandi trombonisti europei. Su questo disco ha trovato il modo di rendere felice in un colpo solo il suo produttore ed il pubblico e di farsi apprezzare dai colleghi musicisti.
