Claudio Cojaniz A.P. Trio: The Heart of the Universe
Dopo esperienze di vario genere, Claudio Cojaniz torna a esibirsi in piano trio, a dieci anni da Romantic Circle e quasi un ventennio dopo l'esordio di Hasta Siempre, con Giovanni Maier e U.T. Gandhi.

La musica si snoda lungo nove brani originali (tutti nuovi eccetto "Busy Street," presente nel recente disco in duo con Francesco Bearzatti Beat Spirit) che formano i momenti di una suite, elaborata dall'autore facendo tesoro dei temi fondanti il suo percorso espressivo.

In primo luogo c'è l'Africa, terra madre per l'umanità nel suo complesso e per la musica del Novecento, che ha ispirato il cantabile e iterativo "A.P. Dance" (dedicato esplicitamente a Nelson Mandela) e il successivo "Great Spirit" ma che ritroviamo trasfigurata nei colori del blues in "Black and Groove" e "Captain F".

Ma l'album è fortemente intriso dalla cultura accademica e dalla vena sperimentale di Cojaniz, che viene espressa in due episodi di forte impatto, come "Willy/Webern" e "White Fire/Schoenberg". In altri momenti lo spessore concertistico del leader si coniuga a momenti di alto lirismo, come il lungo "Teacher in the Universe".

L'arte di Cojaniz affascina per le tinte radiose, la vena rituale ed i contrasti interni, elementi che portano la musica a sequenze ritmicamente incisive. Con gli ottimi partner il dialogo si snoda in modo esemplare.

Un disco di pregio.
