Michael Staron

Acknowledged in Jazz Times as, “A versatile, forwarding looking and accomplished performer", Michael began his professional career playing Latin Tropical music in Chicago’s inner city at age fifteen. He holds a M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music in Composition from DePaul University. He has been an instructor at Triton College since 2000 and has been a lecturer at DePaul University since 2003. Reviews in regards to the various facets of his bass playing have been published in Cadence, Pulse, Jazz USA, Jazz Review, Jazz Word, Jazz Weekly, AMG, New City, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, The Wire, All About Jazz, Beyond Coltrane, Where, Screen, Jazz at a Glance, Chicago Reader, Progression Magazine and live performances of Michael have been aired on BET, 190 North and local cable.
