As has been status quo for several years now, "Kid Charlemagne" provided the encore. The stomping of feet on metal bleachers and twinkling cell phone lights clearly threw Becker off guard. When he returned to the microphone, he called Cleveland "the greatest crowd we play for all fucking year." Perhaps it was merely a bit of hyperbole, but undoubtedly these guys and gals came to play and over the course of two hours more than made the case for taking the title of best band in the country.
I love jazz because it's so different than pop and has an emotional pull that other music does not have.
I was first exposed to jazz when I saw Dave Brubeck in 1974.
