Hess / AC / Hess: Spacelab

Trio danese di ottimo livello, quello formato dai fratelli Hess e da Anders Christensen, già protagonisti nel 2009 di The Champ, loro opera prima (l'incisione, qui, è invece recentissima: febbraio 2014). Il terreno è quello di un piano trio arioso e non particolarmente avventuroso, su una linea, quindi, abbastanza battuta, che peraltro i tre scandinavi esplorano con notevole perizia strumentale e felicità di scrittura.

Si respirano un'eleganza e una souplesse estreme, pur non mancando gli episodi più mossi ("Super 8" e "Sunday Grace," nello specifico), una cantabilità spesso molto esplicita, un lirismo serpeggiante che non disdegna di appoggiarsi su una soffice danzabilità di base.

Ovunque assoluto (almeno questa è l'impressione) il controllo della materia, con punte di eccellenza per brani quali il citato "Super 8," "Concorde Je T'aime," raffinato e dolente, di notevole pathos lirico, e il dittico "Habibi"/"New & Gone," che trascorre dalla fluida discorsività melodica del primo titolo alla maggior introspezione, a tratti quasi frammentata, del secondo.

Album gradevolissimo e di assoluto buon gusto.
