Se è vero che l'improvvisazione radicale non è immune dai clichè che vorrebbe oltrepassare, difficile trovare in fallo Peter Brötzmann in questo contesto. La sua inesausta avventura sonora si rafforza sera dopo sera in concerti spesi senza risparmio, con un'incoscienza psicofisica che garantisce sincerità artistica e spesso vette espressive sublimi.

Qui siamo a Lubiana, al festival del 2013, e Brötzmann è affiancato da un team ritmico che non fa sconti, quello composto dai britannici John Edwards e Steve Noble, già incontrati in The Worse the Better. La title-track occupa ben tre quarti d'ora dell'ascolto e inizia come ci si attende: uno sfogo del respiro del sassofonista, che nello spazio dell'emissione spara note senza collante narrativo, invitando i due partner a trovare la temperatura adeguata per l'improvvisazione. Dopo un paio di minuti Noble, attraverso un passaggio sui piatti, coglie l'accelerazione che fa gonfiare le frasi del tenore, fino ad uno strozzo che culmina verso l'alto.

La musica si costruisce dopo un po,' quando Brötzmann si distende in melodie che riportano ad Albert Ayler, aprono ad un breve duetto della ritmica e tornano ad un clima di ballad scura. Da lì in avanti il trio si cimenta in un gioco condotto a turno. Un solo di Noble (che in tutta l'esecuzione allude a stilemi africani) apre per le sequenze al tarogato, mentre la foga di Edwards riporta intensità e velocità.

Brötzmann dirige con sapienza le sue possibilità dialogiche, ancora lucidissime, soffiando anche al clarinetto e al contralto. Non sarà uno dei dischi più memorabili del tedesco, ma la qualità è sempre sopra la media. Come dimostrano anche i due pezzi supplementari, brevi, specie il finale "Nail Dogs By Ears," con un tenore più ruggente che mai.
