In auge da più di trent'anni con il suo energico latin-jazz, il trombettista brasiliano imprime con questo bellissimo disco una virata inattesa alla sua musica per fare un inaspettato salto di qualità sia sul piano della composizione che dell'arrangiamento.

Questi brani donano alla sua cifra espressiva valenza diversa, finendo con l'abbandonare gli abusati stereotipi del samba-jazz imposti dalle case discografiche. Colpisce sul piano timbrico l'idea di far contraltare alla sua tromba rotonda e squillante il suono scuro del trombone al posto del consueto sax o seconda tromba.

È il primo indizio di una volatile progettualità, che ci dimostra quanto pieghe espressive possano rivelare le trame del samba jazz, per aggiungere introspezione e lirismo meditabondo alla routiniera cartolina brasiliana.

Ora la tromba di Roditi è ricca di pathos, con senso della sorpresa spiazzante e lirismo palpitante, sfruttando a pieno le mille eccellenti risorse strumentali ed emozionali, dando l'impressione di aver raggiunto una dimensione spontanea, non artefatta. A sostenerla con partecipazione e superba tecncica una ritmica brasiliana da sogno. A ciò si aggiungono verve e gioia esecutiva, per un magma seducente di musica.
