È un quintetto ma ha il tiro di una big band (quanto meno di una middle band, ottetto e dintorni); rivela un attento ascolto della musica di Frank Zappa, che ne risulta mani e piedi il referente più esplicito; non sfoggia particolari doti di originalità, stante quanto appena affermato, ma riesce ciò nonostante a colpire nel segno: questo, in poche righe, quanto ci dice in prima battuta questo gustoso album targato WorldService Project.

Andrà precisato che tutti i brani sono —musica e parole, ove presenti —del tastierista e leader Dave Morecroft, che degli otto pezzi in cartello cura anche gli arrangiamenti insieme con i compagni e con Liran Donin, bassista e compositore israeliano trapiantato a Londra, dove d'altro canto vivono anche tutti gli altri e dove l'album è stato inciso nell'ottobre 2017.

Certo c'è parecchia ripetitività e veemenza, soluzioni un po' auliche, ridondanti (spesso anche più di un po'), canticchiamenti e parlottii qua e là vagamente demenziali, però alla fine il prodotto regge, fa passare tre quarti d'ora in buona compagnia, gratifica l'orecchio e la pancia (come si suol dire). Meno la mente? È probabile, ma non tutto può possedere le stimmate del capolavoro. A sapersi accontentare, questo è un album di più che apprezzabile fattura.
