Pianist Jacob Sacks summoned some of the best musicians he could find to create Fishes, his latest release for Clean Feed. Saxophonists Ellery Eskelin and Tony Malaby, bassist Michael Formanek and drummer Dan Weiss tackle Sack's quirky compositions and ideas and the result is a great recording. Also in this episode, music from a live performance by Polish saxophone great Piotr Baron, complete with an intro by the president of the Czech Republic, new tunes from Montreal's Benjamin Deschamps, and another installment in the year-long saga of Satoko Fujii's monthly birthday celebration releases. Each one has been different and this one features a tap-dancer.
