Oytun Ersan is a Turkish Cypriot bassist, composer, recording artist and a member of the Recording Academy. He is best known for his soulful grooves, technique and melodic Jazz Fusion compositions. Oytun holds a degree in Music and a Masters Degree in Special Education. At the early age of 15, he joined the International Nicosia Municipality Orchestra as a saxophone and later as a bass player, making him the youngest professional musician to join an internationally recognised orchestra in Cyprus island. I'm a jazz double bass player. In most bands I'm in I play straight ahead jazz. Aerts & Baumgarten is a mainstream duo (guitar and bass), Play it hard is a hardbop quintet and with my own trio, the Philip Baumgarten Trio, I play my (jazz) compositions. I also play in a trio Pot, Baumgarten & Van Astenrode, that plays a crossover of folk and jazz. I've just recorded a nice cd with that band called 'Home'.
