Played for many years and recorded with Ken Ulansey and Heath Allen, also with the Tom Lawton trio at the four seasons Hotel and Tony Williams Quartet at the Ritz Carlton. Was a long time member of Bobby Zankel's big band, made two records with them and a trio record with Edgar Bateman. I have also recorded with Larry Coryell and Mike Clark, Butch Ballard and Sam Dockery, Khan Jamal, and Kelly Meashey among others.

Each part intertwines to form something mesmerizing, and we're all transported to an unparalleled zone where the music hijacks our souls and takes us to someplace better. A world full of people, different in almost every single way, but united by a love for the art of music— it truly is a beautiful thing.” Says Kalen. For Kalen, singing was not so much a hobby as it was an undeniable urge
