I am the leader and reeds player in Dr. Dubious and the Agnostics, a Dixieland Jazz band playing in the Metro New York area since 1998. We are a hot jazz, 7 or 8 piece band and have performed at First Nights, street fairs, weddings, private and corporate functions, and just about anywhere that people enjoy toe-tapping, good music. We feature female vocals by our pianist; male vocals by me, the eponymous Dr. Dubious; and bass saxophone to anchor the rhythm section.

Uralskiy Dixieland is considered to be one of the best traditional jazz bands in Russia. The members of the band are masters not only of dixieland jazz but also a variety of modern jazz genres from mainstream and bebop to jazz rock and smooth jazz. However, trad jazz remains to be the heart of Uralskiy Dixieland’s repertory. Uralskiy Dixieland was formed in Chelyabinsk in 1969 under the aegis of the regional Philharmonic under the leadership of jazz musician and trumpeter Igor Bourco.
