Mort Weiss
Born:
Mort Weiss is a bebop-oriented clarinet player with ten albums as leader to date. After having taken 30-odd years off from playing, Weiss came to musical life as a leader in 2003 with The Mort Weiss Quartet (AKA Mort Wiess Meets Joey DeFrancesco) (SMS Jazz, 2003) following with B3 and Me (recorded in 2003 but not released until 2006). According to jazz writer Scott Yanow, "Clarinet-organ groups are far from common. In fact, prior to Mort Weiss' debut CD with organist Joey DeFrancesco, it is possible that combination had never been utilized before." Indeed, but this didn't stop Weiss and DeFrancesco from doing so.
Born in 1935 in Pennsylvania, Weiss began clarinet lessons when he was nine-years old

Ryan Snow is a trombonist, improviser, composer and teacher living in Charlottesville, VA. After graduating from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music in 2005 with degrees in Jazz Studies and Politics, Ryan moved to Brooklyn, NY to continue his musical studies as part of NYC's vibrant improvised music community. Between 2005-2015 he performed as a leader and sideman in wide range of musical projects centered around free improvisation and avant-garde jazz. John D'earth is the Director of Jazz Performance at the University of Virginia where he teaches improvisation, jazz trumpet, jazz composition, and directs the UVA Jazz Ensemble. Jazz trumpeter and composer John D'earth was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1950. He studied, as a teenager, with saxophonist Boots Mussulli, (Stan Kenton, Charlie Ventura, Teddy Wilson) with John Coffey, (principal trombonist in the Boston Symphony) and arranging with Thad Jones. He attended Harvard University and, later, moved to New York City where he studied with Carmine Caruso, Vince Penzarella and Richie Beirach. D'earth has performed and recorded internationally and appeared on over one hundred recordings spanning the analog and digital eras on vinyl, CDs, film, and video
