Maureen Choi Quartet at BacchusLIVE

Read "Maureen Choi Quartet at BacchusLIVE" reviewed by Jim Worsley

We live in an era where chit chatting now, most annoyingly, rivals actual listening to the music at many concerts. It is with supreme delight then, that I share my enthralling experience of an evening of musical brilliance that was free of any such boorish clutter. Chip Boaz

Chip Boaz plays Latin Jazz with the bass on top. Six string bass highs and lows form the foundation for your musical experience. Melodic bass solos glide through a sea of Afro-Cuban rhythms and electronic sounds. Strong bass lines anchor contemporary sounds in the landscape of both Afro-Cuban and Jazz traditions. Infectious grooves inspire your feet to dance and your ears to listen a little closer. It's Latin Jazz with an emphasis on the low end, created to move you! David Arnay

Pianist David Arnay, born in New York City, spent his formative professional years in Ithaca, New York. His keyboard work was integral to a series of original musical projects including a lengthy collaboration in the eclectic Zobo Funn Band with influential guitarist/composer David Torn. In Los Angeles, Arnay was recruited in 1994 by jazz woodwind legend Bennie Maupin for his new quintet. The group thrived for several years, performing Arnay's compositions along with Maupin's. “Playing with Bennie brought me to one of the coolest branches of the jazz family tree. He really helped me to listen more carefully, to leave more space and respect silence
