MUSICIAN Born:

Teis Semey

Teis Semey (1993) was born in rural Denmark and found his interest in music at the age of 7. After shuffling between playing piano and playing guitar, he settled on guitar. Moving to Sweden in 2007, he started studying music in a specialised programme for young jazz talents in the city Malmö. After a brief year in Stockholm, studying jazz guitar and classical composition, classical piano and jazz guitar, he moved to Amsterdam, earning a bachelors and masters degree in jazz guitar in the Conservatory of Amsterdam, studying under Jesse van Ruller, Reinier Baas, Maarten vd Grinten, Matiss Cudars, George Dumitriu and Martijn van Iterson. Teis Semey draws influences from all around: the works of Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Ravel as well as Wayne Shorter, Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, Audioslave, Kurt Rosenwinkel and John Coltrane. Teis Semey has released one CD as a band leader; “Where The Fence is the Highest” (2019, TRPTK) along with “Pull a String, a Puppet Moves” with PULL (2015, Loumi Records) and “Rotterdam Suite” by The New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra (2019). Teis has performed in venues such as Blue Whale (Los Angeles) and Bimhuis (Netherlands)

Iman Spaargaren

Iman Spaargaren will release two albums in 2013. "Thelonious4 meets Tony Miceli" on DotTime Records with Thelonious4 and "In The Moment" on EyemanRecords with Iman Spaargaren Undercurrent. In 2012 Iman Spaargaren toured the Netherlands with the Iman Spaargaren Quartet during Young VIP Tour 2012. Iman is a multi-reed player, arranger and composer. Iman has a distinctive way of playing and a very personal tone on his horn. He likes to search for different ways of expressing himself in different kinds of music. His main musical goal is to have a great deal of freedom in melody, hamony and rhythm and presenting that in a comprehensible context for the listener. During the past few years Iman has been busy with a wide variety of music groups such as Iman Spaargaren Undercurrent, Iman Spaargaren Quartet & Septet, Captain Hook, European Union Quartet, Thelonious4 and New Generation Bigband. In 2012 Iman and his Iman Spaargaren Quartet do the prestigious Young VIPs Tour 2012

Damien Kingston

Damien Kingston is a jazz guitarist currently based in Hobart, Tasmania. Damien completed a Masters of Music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2013, studying under Jesse van Ruller and Maarten van der Grinten. This was preceded by undergraduate studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the University of Tasmania. He is currently teaching at the University of Tasmania.

Ruud de Vries is a jazz tenor saxophonist from the Netherlands, playing and recording a lot of musical styles, though always based on improvisation. When you look up his recordings on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, or all other online music portals, you'll find traditional jazz, funky jazz, souljazz, latinjazz, afrobeat, calypsojazz, rhythm & blues, rock 'n roll, pop and 'DJ' dance music with sax improvisation. Ruud de Vries bought his first saxophone when he was already 27 years old, after attending a performance of tenor saxophonist Hans Dulfer (the father of Candy Dulfer)
