Kristian

Kristian’s latest album Silent Storm – released July 2016 - was recorded on a dark November day in 2015 at Curtis Schwartz Studio straight off the back of his quartet’s Autumn tour around England. The writing on this, Kristian’s third album, is colorful and stylistically diverse and is concentrated exclusively around his accomplished group, putting the sounds of guitar and piano backed by a strong and emphatic rhythm section in the centre of the recording. The Danish Jazz Magazine, Jazz Special, describes the result as “…hard swing, lively post bop and mellow Nordic melancholy to edgy jazz-rock fusion is delivered with great force and a controlled ferocity which suits the quartet well." The quartet, which features the inspiring efforts of Arthur Lea (p), Mick Coady (b) and Jon Scott, has been playing together since 2009: “This feels like a ‘proper’ working band throughout, with a flexible and intelligent rapport honed by several years of playing together." (The Jazz Mann)

MUSICIAN Born:

The Beat Freaks

It was at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries that the first mentions of the „Difference Engine” - the progenitor of today's computers - appeared. No one had thought then that almost 200 years later it would fascinate four young artists from Szczecin (Poland), who would draw inspiration from the rich current of Steampunk culture.  Progressive visions straight from the era of steam engine and engineering development combined with musical sensitivity and lyricism create a mixture as surprising as it is thrilling. The rhythm that is the basis of existence and progress has become the starting point for the world of melodious stories and unbridled improvisations, to which the musicians of The Beat Freaks invite. The band was formed in 2014

Danols

Danols, an electric guitarist & composer, is best known for his solo guitar concerts, where he blends his own guitar music with classical pieces; from Bach to Ólafur Arnalds. His debut album came out in 2014, followed by the second one "Sounds" in 2016, and he has been touring his country and abroad, playing in different halls and guitar festivals. He was a guitarist of some punk/rock/jazz bands and had his own blues jam session, as singer too, before he immersed himself completely in a world of "electric guitar meets classical" compositions. Danols explores the boundaries between genres by mixing chamber strings and electric guitar, as heard in his single "O Sweet Everlasting Music, Be Still". His passion started as a 10-year-old boy, when he discovered the guitar and, as a self-taught, started to play and compose, playing his first gigs at fourteen
