Grant Langford
About Me
Saxophonist, recording artist, composer, and educator Grant Langford lives in
New York City. Mr. Langford was the first recipient of the 2003 Young Lion
award by the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium. He has performed as a
leader and as a sideman in the U.S. and abroad with the Ray Charles
Orchestra, TS Monk Tentet, Eric Reed Quintet, Sean Thomas Quartet, Dave
Gibson Quintet, the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, Kent Glenn-Putter Smith
Quartet and The Brooklyn Soul Organization. Mr. Langford has also taught at
the University of Colorado at Boulder Mile
High Jazz Camp for two summers.
Grant recieved his Bachelor's Degree from the New England Conservatory of
Music and his teachers have included Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone,
Charlie Banacas, Danilo Perez, George Russell, Fred Haas, and Allan
Chase. He has been playing Saxophone since the age of 12. Mr. Langfords
most recent recording is with The Brooklyn Soul Organization entitled The
Victims of The Ruthless. This is a collaborative project with Grammy
nominated saxophonist Bradford Leali, veteran Organist Radam Schwartz,
and the up-and-coming Jerome Jennings on Drums. This features two
compositions by Langford. This record is due to be released Spring 2004.

This is a very creative group that plays a lot of new music but stresses the
groove, soul and uplifting listeners and each other.
