Cousin Alice

Smokey Voiced Alice performs a collection of jazz standards, pop, original songs and a touch of blues. Listen to the music and enjoy the experience!

About Me

COUSIN ALICE creates a completely unique sound, delivered with a light peppering of harmony and dark humour from the 20's-40's. Likened by one listener to “across between Tom Waits & Madeleine Peyroux”, smokey voiced Alice, with her antique banjo-ukelele and a battered array of musicians ( actually the cream of Londons blues and jazzers), performs a collection of jazz standards, pop, nostalgia, original songs and a touch of blues. She has been enthusiastically received by audiences in New Zealand, The Caribbean (her ancestral homes), Brasil and London, appearing at a variety of venues including a residency at Soho's Cafe Boheme and regular appearances at the famous Café de Paris, Pizza on The Park, The Connaught Rooms & The Savoy as well as at The Black Cotton Club and The Voluptè Lounge. Earlier this year she astounded one of the most seasoned sound engineers in the business by recording “live” takes of no less than twenty songs in one day – with guitarist & virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Martin Wheatley and double bassist Jonny Gee – including brand new versions of You're Just Too Good To Be True and Can't Help Falling In Love With You plus audience favourites of her own songs: Guiltbox and The Bank Of Love. This CD is due to be released sometime in 2010...watch this space!
