German bass player, nicknamed "Lady Bass" by Ray Brown

About Me

One of Europe´s most famous female bass player started her career with Germany´s well-known Barrelhouse Jazzband from 1979-89. At the same time she studied and finished with the state examination at the university of music in Mainz/Germany. In 1987 she formed her own German-American quartet and added in 1994 the sensational mainstream-band The Swinging Ladies with four female top soloists (i.e. Stacy Rowles) from the US and herself. In 2002 she started a German-based all-female band, combined with the talented trumpet player and vocalist Stacy Rowles from L.A., the daughter of the unforgettable Jimmy Rowles.Lindy Huppertsberg & WitchCraft is nowadays the most successful female Mainstream/Bebop-band in all of Europe. Lindy also shared the stage and the recording studio with many of the most famous jazz stars. Her big idol and teacher Ray Brown named her “Lady Bass”. The strong and swinging bass lines of Lindy Huppertsberg are often requested for international “All-Star”-line-ups. She performed in over 60 countries of this planet with continuous success. In 2001 she became an honorary citizen of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Outside of her own projects she is a steady member of the famous “Gospel Messengers” and is teaching at several workshops in Europe, to share the knowledge and the experience with the next generation. In 2014 she rejoined the Barrelhouse Jazzband. New projects are: Classic Affairs, Born To Swing!, Imagine Peace, Lined With A Groove
