About Me

Growing up in Long Island, New York, I performed and hung out at a 7 night a week jazz club called Sonny's Place, where long time members of the Count Basie Orchestra performed, as well as many other fine jazz musicians from the New York City/Long Island area. I was a member of The Charli Persip Superband, on baritone sax, for almost a year, whose name changed to Supersound during my tenure from 1990-1991. I put out 4 jazz CDs as leader starting in 1998, featuring my tenor sax, with Unspoken Words on Cats Paw Label. In 1999, I had a CD Rhapsody on the Sea Breeze Jazz Label. In 2000 and 2001, I led CDs with drummer Bob Leto on the Brownstone Label. These CDs have been reviewed by well known jazz critics, appearing in nationally known jazz periodicals. My 5th Jazz CD as a leader is coming out in February 2, 2024 on Zoho Music, titled Whisper Not.I have appeared as a sideman on a Latin Jazz CD, A Mi Tierra with the group Afro-Dysia. I am on 3 CDs as a member of the Skip Wilkins Quintet. I am also on the Tony Gairo/Gary Rissmiller Big Band CD, Treacherous, also on Sea Breeze Jazz. The two releases on Brownstone feature Kenny Drew Jr. on piano. The CDs Unspoken Words and Red Top feature organist Bobby Forrester, with Red Top featuring my baritone sax again. On my CDs as a leader and sideman, I appear on tenor, baritone, alto, soprano saxes, clarinet, bass clarinet, and flute.
