My Jazz Story
I love jazz because it's the richest, deepest, most global, most non-commercial music in the
universe. I was first exposed to jazz through my parents' West Coast-dominated record
collection; found Miles Davis, bebop and Fusion in college; and have been searching for new
things ever since. This job has provided me with the privilege of meeting and/or interviewing
some truly tremendous artists. My advice to new listeners: Find the kind of jazz you like to
start, but always keep your ears open, because the music is changing every day.

- Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out
- John Coltrane - Live at the Village Vanuguard
