About Me

I'm nearing 60 years old and am new to jazz, I wish I'd found it long ago but It never really hit me until a couple of years ago when a friend asked me to sit in with a combo, from that day on I've been a fan. I now play in a bigband "Orquestra da Jazz da Lagos" and also in a jazz quartet, here in the Algarve, Portugal.I'm learning every day and hopefully improving in my soloing skills and technique.I started trumpet at 9 years of age in a Salvation Army band swapped brass for guitar played for quite a few years in various pop bands but always played my trumpet at home, Î also played in a couple of Yorkshire Brass bands studied with some fine brass players but in that genre playing is a lot different to jazz as Î have now found out.
